About Dr. Ioanna Petropoulou

Since 2006, I have provided psychotherapy and counseling to people dealing with challenging life experiences around the world (U.K., Spain, Greece and the United States). For six years I worked in community mental health offering both long-term and short-term therapy to individuals, couples, families and children. For the past ten years, I have been working with individuals in private practice offering therapy in English, Greek and Spanish. I am currently located in Boulder, Colorado.

My clinical experience involves seeing clients with psychological difficulties ranging from mild to severe. Some of my specialties include helping people who struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, family conflict, grief and loss, chronic illness, life transitions, cultural identity issues, and academic life issues. It has been deeply moving to see my clients grow session by session, overcome long-lasting difficulties, and regain their sense of power and meaning in life.

I hold a PsychD (Doctorate) in Psychotherapeutic and Counseling Psychology from the University of Surrey, U.K., and a BS in Psychology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. I have been trained in various psychotherapeutic modalities including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Person – Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. In my current practice, I combine my skills and experience in those approaches to serve your individual therapeutic needs. You can find out more about the way I work here or contact me if you have further questions.
